Chef Scott Crawford is a star on the culinary team at Sea Island Resorts where he manages The Georgian Room at The Cloister Hotel as the Chef de Cuisine. The Georgian Room holds a Mobile 5-Star designation. Esquire magazine called Chef Crawford “one of the best young chefs in America” when he received the Best New Restaurant of the Year Award in 2006.
At the age of 18, Crawford left his hometown outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to train across the United States, and eventually attended the American Culinary Academy in Tampa, Florida. Following graduation, Crawford was mentored by prominent Chef Scott Howard, of Tampa's Mise en Place. It was under his direction that Crawford fully developed his knowledge and passion for the chef and farmer concept. He went on to hold a number of positions at prestigious restaurants across the country, including Black Cat in San Francisco, California and The Ritz-Carlton at Amelia Island, Florida. During Scott's tenure, the Grill Room received the AAA Five Diamond award in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Crawford was also selected to assist in the historic opening of the Ritz-Carlton at Central Park in New York City.
Crawford left Amelia Island to serve as the Executive Chef at the Woodlands Resort and Inn, a Relais & Chateaux property in Summerville, South Carolina. Under Crawford's direction, the Dining Room at the Woodlands maintained the prestigious Mobil 5-Star designation.
Crawford joined the Sea Island team as the Chef de Cuisine for the Georgian Room, the most elegant and intimate dining offering at the famed Cloister at Sea Island.
The chef's approach combines preparing the finest cuisine available, serving it from the heart, and always extending the gracious Southern hospitality that is true to Sea Island Resorts.
